Platypus Bush Camp, Finch Hatton Gorge in the Mackay Hinterland is set on 20 acres of lowland rainforest bordering Eungella National Park. This privately owned bushcamp has "Land for Wildlife" status and plays host to a huge array of birds, bats, butterflies, reptiles, turtles, marsupials and aquatic life including the elusive platypus.
The campground provides fire pits (Wood can be purchased on site), pinic shelters, flushing toilets, amazing rainforest showers, platypus viewing area and crystal clear swimming holes. Croc free mind you. The camp is great for tent, caravan or RV based camping and if your camping you can just turn up. But if you don't have the gear, not to worry as camp kits are also available for hire.
If you're keen for a bit of Glamping the ground also provides rustic timber slab huts among trees by the creek. Double, twin or Dorm huts are available and hut guests have access to the fully equipped camp kitchen. Perfect for small private functions.

Getting there: The gorge is signed of Eugella Rd just before the town of Finch Hatton. The site is about 8km up Gorge Rd.
