Balgal Beach Rest Area 1, Balgal Beach, north of Townsville is a beach side campground next to an estuary with good basic facilities. Shaded by casurina trees the site is great for the traveling public and is suitable for trailers, caravans and tent based camping. However there is a 48 hour stay limit.

There is a kiosk (Fishermans Landing) that sells just about every thing and a boat ramp making this a very popular spot for the traveling public and keen anglers. The site is FREE and pet friendly.

Getting there: From the Bruce Hwy take Balgal Beach Rd. Follow 8km before taking a left onto Marlin Street and follow out to site which is located across from the Fishermans Landing Kiosk.
